Description

Integrating dosing devices according to the gravimetric loss in weight method are suitable for the precise dosing of liquids, pastes and solids (powders, granules, fibers, etc.)

  • The dosing container and the discharge unit are mounted on a weighing system (e.g. a platform scale, a hybrid frame with a load cell, several direct load cells, etc.)
  • A mechanically decoupled refill container fills the medium cyclically into the dosing container
  • The media properties determine the appropriate discharge unit
  • The required dosing performance determines the device dimensions and the mechanical structure

Operating mode

The reduction in system weight per unit of time defines the dosing performance:

  • The dosing container is full (at the start-up or after the refill)
  • The target value computer takes the measured weight value
  • The target value computer calculates continuously the decreasing target weight value from the decreasing system weight during the running discharge
  • The dosing controller compares continuously the measured weight value with the calculated target weight value
  • The difference between the two values is continuously processed in a control loop for correcting the discharge

Note: During a refill operation the control signal average of the last 10 seconds drives the discharge unit.

The media properties determine the appropriate discharge unit (if necessary with additional discharge aids). Following discharge units are available:

  • Vibration conveyor discharge

Here particularly the patented ARBO vibration conveyor with resonance drive unit

  • Screw discharge for poorly flowing material (powder)
  • Belt discharge for free-flowing material (powder)

Pump discharge for liquides and pastes

  • Dosing sluices for larger dosing quantities (systems under pressure, N2 atmospheres)

Notes:

  • Flex containers made of different materials are used for highly viscous media (e.g. media with the risk of bridging)
  • Further optional discharge aids are mixers, fluidising beds and shakers
